Helping clients become their most healthy and authentic selves.
Hey There, I’m Shanbria
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I grew up in a military family and lived amongst many different cultures. Relocating from various military bases throughout my life has allowed me to appreciate and embrace all cultures. After living in Texas for two years as a child, I was committed to someday returning, making Texas home, and giving back to the community. I see life as a journey where valuable lessons and growth take place.
In my practice I specialize in working with:
Women who grew up in dysfunctional families, and experienced childhood neglect or abuse.
Women struggling with co-dependency, people-pleasing, and/or perfectionism.
Women with trauma who find themselves self-soothing with harmful coping tools.
Children and adolescents who need support in navigating life transitions and building healthy self-esteem.
Children and adolescents whose parents are separated, divorced, or in the process of getting a divorce.
Children and adolescents who struggle with social skills, regulating their emotions, and communication.
Adolescents struggling with drug use, running away, or other at-risk behaviors.
I am a trauma-informed therapist and assist my client’s in getting back in touch with the needs of their mind and body. I have a collaborative approach which means I integrate interventions that will fit the needs of my clients. When working with children and adolescents, I integrate traditional talk therapy with play, sand tray, art, and music interventions.
During our time together I promise to always show up as my authentic self.
We will laugh together, cry together and experience the waves of healing together.
It would be my honor to walk alongside you or your child.
My Professional Experience
I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and then continued my education by attending Northwestern University and received my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have experience working in school settings as a teacher as well as a mental health counselor for middle and high school students. Additionally, I have experience working in private practice and behavioral health hospital settings. I have over 10 years of experience working with youth ranging from ages 3 to17. I am passionate about implementing trauma-informed care in all my work. I am committed to giving back to my community and believe the heart of the community is directly tied to its people, and imbuing individuals with the ability to feel seen, heard, and understood is vital to strengthening any community.
